Oil Industry

EPCON has made a major development investment for the American Petroleum Institute to improve their vital standard on ‘Petroleum Refining’ – the API Technical Data Book. Beginning in 1997, EPCON began programming of an electronic version of API’s flagship standard which now provides 20+ software applications to calculate over 130 API methods used to provide accurate physical property data for the sizing and design of hydrocarbon processing systems.

The 8th Edition of the API Technical Data Book now includes a rigorous 3-phase flash that outperforms all other commercial simulators in 5 key areas important to petroleum refiners as identified by the API Technical Data Committee. The API Technical Data Book is relied upon corporate wide by nearly all major oil companies including BP, Chevron, CITGO, ConocoPhillips, Marathon, Shell, Sunoco, and Valero and is also used corporate wide by many prominent E&C firms including Bechtel, Fluor, Foster-Wheeler, Jacobs and KBR.

Engineer’s Aide SiNET for fluid flow analysis of piping systems is widely used in the Oil industry - the company standard of Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Shell and Sunoco due to its superior efficiency and strong technical capabilities to handle liquid, gas, or 2-phase systems as well as non-Newtonian and super-critical systems.

CHEMPRO PRV’s Pressure Relief Valve analysis computational engine has been used since 1989 to design hundreds of refinery process relief systems and the Flare Backpressure Analysis program solution engine has been used in industry for over 25 years to help significantly improve refinery process safety.

SYSTEM 7 Process Explorer has designed may US refineries and it’s 3-phase flash is recommended by the American Petroleum Institute’s Technical Data Committee. In today’s vital and growing Oil industry, the leading companies rely on the proven software standards and solution engines that EPCON provides.
