Overview

Toolbox Xpress provides the following process equipment sizing programs detailed below as well as FLASH Mixture, EPCON's powerful THERMA™ Flash/Mixture Calculation application .  Toolbox Xpress is also bundled with CHEMPRO Engineering Suite.


Pipeline Schedule

This powerful pipeline sizing program sizes individual pipeline streams without the need for graphic input.  A schedule of hundreds of pipelines can be entered and sized at once and pressure drop and temperature profiles graphed vs pipe length.  Compare several sizes larger and smaller at once to determine the optimum pipe size.  Sequential solution of 2-phase and compressible gas systems recalculates physical properties at each interval down the pipeline with comprehensive thermodynamic data and models.

Pumps/Fans/Compressors

This stand-alone module allows for direct computation of differential head/pressure requirements for systems with one primary source and destination point.

Heat Exchanger Sizing

This simplified rating method for shell & tube heat exchangers was developed and validated using field data from hundreds of exchangers.  Rigorously solves for the overall heat transfer coefficient, area, and the duty.  Evaluate and compare shell & tube vs. plate & frame exchangers by using the Alfa Laval sizing module that is also included.

Flowmeter Sizing

This provides sizing for orifice plates, venturi tubes, and flow nozzles based on the ASME published methods.

Control & Relief Valve Sizing

Sizes control valves and relief valves (simple cases) based on published methods of ISA and ASME respectively.

Pressure Vessel/Tank Sizing

This module allows process engineers to help contribute to better decisions concerning the design, specification, and operation of vessels and storage tanks.

Physical Properties

The DIPPRO™ patented interface provides access to the AIChE DIPPR® pure component database with graphing and exporting capabilities.

Steam Tables

Provides both saturated and superheated steam table data for quick determination of physical properties for any temperature and pressure.  Based on the published steam table data from ASME with the option to specify the steam quality.

This simple yet efficient conversion calculator provides quick access to hundreds of commonly used conversions in process engineering.

FLASH Mixture

FLASH Mixture, EPCON's powerful THERMA™ Flash/Mixture Calculation application, allows the user to determine vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) or vapor-liquid-liquid equilibria (VLLE) and associated phase properties, for mixtures of pure and/or pseudo-components.

Properties of pure components are computed with the DIPPR® and API databook(the DIPPR® database is used for pure components only). The three-phase flash (VLLE) engine enables the user to predict phase splits involving a vapor and two liquid phases, wherein the second liquid phase (if present) is an aqueous phase. The three-phase flash is able to determine up-front if a second liquid phase if water is present, and reduces to a two-phase flash if there is no aqueous/water phase.

FLASH Mixture's THERMA Flash/Mixture screen consists of two tables where pure component and pseudo component can be specified. A databank of quality SRK and NRTL parameters are included that are automatically selected for component pairs -providing 3-phase flash results comparable to any major simulator.
