Powerful Features

The API Data Book interface provides access to the Data Book Explorer, Main Programs and Utility Programs organized within dedicated, collapsible sections.  Within the Data Book Explorer pane, click on any subject area to load that specific chapter.  The Main Programs section contains multi-featured, widely used programs while the Utility Programs are targeted to calculate specific Data Book procedures.   Multiple Data Book chapters and programs can be loaded at once and positioned as desired.

 

 

Software Applications

The Main Programs are listed according to their importance and frequency of use while the Utility Programs are shown in the order of their occurrence in the Data Book.  The Flash Mixture Calculations program provides a rigorous 3-phase flash that incorporates many applicable API published methods.  It’s use to determine stream properties automatically utilizes recommended API procedures for specific mixture properties.  The Pure Component Properties program provides single component properties utilizing the AIChE DIPPR Database for API components and applicable API methods.  The Petro Component Properties is similar to the Pure Component Properties program that determines properties for specific petroleum cuts or pseudo components.  The Characterization Properties program requires entry of a petroleum assay to allow calculation of physical properties.  The Distillation Interconversions program and Conversion Calculator program are similar in design that allow for selection and calculation of one specific input to another specific output

 

3-Phase Flash Calculations

THERMA Pro™ software included in the API Data Book 11th Edition provides an extremely accurate prediction of the second liquid (aqueous) phase versus using a process simulator.  This is due to the superior computation methods and integrated binary interaction parameters for all commonly used hydrocarbons and water.  Quickly obtain accurate prediction of the presence of a liquid aqueous phase which is vital to identify and avoid compressor damage and equipment corrosion problems.

 

 

Petro Fraction Properties

Properties of petroleum fractions provides physical properties for assays and petroleum fractions.  There are 3 specific property data types:  physical constant, temperature dependent, and temperature & pressure dependent physical properties. The interface design allows viewing all of the properties of a specific data type for one component at once. Multiple instances of this program can be created to view physical constant and temperature dependent properties together using the Add button as shown below.

 

 

Pure Component Properties

The Pure Components Properties program provides direct access to the AIChE DIPPR® Database for components of interest to the petroleum industry (currently 694 pure components).  There are 3 specific property data types:  physical constant, temperature dependent, and temperature & pressure dependent physical properties. The interface design allows viewing all of the properties of a specific data type for one component at once. Multiple instances of this program can be created to view physical constant and temperature dependent properties together using the Add button as shown below.
